This is a pilot project is aimed at testing the potential of online facilities to support the community of professionals working in North Queensland, particularly in the region of the Great Barrier Reef and associated terrestrial catchments.

FBA's Priority Neighbourhood Catchments Water Quality Monitoring is on the WWW
FBA has been contracting landholders since 2006 to collect water samples during flood events. For the upcoming wet season, we have about 19 sites that will have samples collected and analysed for: turbidity, total suspended solids, pH, electrical conductivity, total nitrogen and total phosphorus.
Mackenzie and Isaac Catchments Water Quality Investigation - October 2008
Between 28-30 September, field officers from the Fitzroy Basin Association Inc
(FBA) collected around 20 water samples, in a sweep across the Mackenzie and
Isaac rivers and tributaries.

Flood simulation animation
An MPG movie showing daily maximum simulated salinity during the 2008 lood event, from the first run of the CSIRO Receiving Waters Model / EMS for this evenet. This website doesn't allow attachedments with mpg extensions, so I have changed the file extension to "jpg", but you'll need to change it back to "mpg" to run the animation.

1991 Floods
On 27th September 1991 a workshop was held that focussed on Impacts of Flooding across the Fitzroy Basin. This workshop was supported by Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage (now 'Environmental Protection Agency') and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Autority.
